Mother Lode Friends of Music

The Friction Quartet, the dynamic quartet of youthful players from the San Francisco Bay Area, returns for a special concert with international concert pianist Jenny Q Chai and acclaimed percussionist/composer Andy Akiho. They will perform Akiho’s Piano Quintet, commissioned for the Friction Quartet by Chamber Music of America. Also on the program: the Piano Quintet of Robert Schumann and Akiho’s exhilarating quintet for strings and steelpan. A reception in honor of the artists will follow the performance.
