We Four, led by tenor saxophonist Javon Jackson and NEA Jazz Master Jimmy Cobb celebrate the music and spirit of John Coltrane, interpreting tunes like Giant Steps, Naima, Central Park West, Countdown and originals inspired by Coltrane's Quartet.
Javon Jackson was a member of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and toured and recorded with Elvin Jones, Betty Carter, Cedar Walton, Ron Carter, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Curtis Fuller, and Stanley Turrentine.
Drummer Cobb joined Coltrane in Miles Davis' Sextet to record Kind of Blue, and appeared on nine of Miles Davis' recordings and six of Coltrane's. A young 87 years old he continues to record and perform with the best. His most recent album, 2014's The Original Mob is with Brad Mehldau and Peter Bernstein.
