Another Realm, Unusual Musical Combinations

Quintet of the Americas will perform music combining Western traditions with Chinese, Latin American,

and African musical traditions. The sound of the woodwind quintet will be combined with electronics, harp, mbira (African thumb piano) and Latin American folk rattles and flutes. Featured guests will be master mbira player Chartwell Dutiro from Zimbabwe and Susan Jolles, harp.

Quintet of the Americas is the recipient of the prestigious nationally-awarded Chamber Music America Residency for 2015-16. This residency, organized in partnership with Rockaway Artists Alliance, P.S. 114 Belle Harbor School, Rockaway Waterfront Alliance, West End Temple, and Beacon Rehab and Nursing center, has been made possible with support from Chamber Music America through its Residency Endowment Fund.
