100 years ago Claude Debussy embarked upon an ambitious project of six large-scale sonatas for “diverse instruments” but completed only three before his death in 1918. Three contemporary masters, Thomas Adès, Marc-Andre Dalbavie, and Libby Larsen (in a world premiere) help complete the set, offering their own sonatas for the eccentric combinations of instruments envisioned by the great French composer, realized by 13 stellar performers.
