Join us for a master class with acclaimed violinist and Artistic Director of Bargemusic, Mark Peskanov.

About Mark Peskanov:

A native of Odessa, Ukraine, Mr. Peskanov immigrated with his family to the United States when he was fifteen and was immediately accepted as a student at the Julliard School where he won the Competition which led to a nation-wide tour of all the major orchestras in America, including his Kennedy Center Debut as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Mstislav Rostropovich. He went on to receive the first Frederick R. Mann Award, an Avery Fisher Career Grant and Carnegie Hall’s first Isaac Stern Award.

For his Carnegie Hall debut Mr. Peskanov premiered the John Williams Violin Concerto, with conductor Leonard Slatkin and the St. Louis Symphony, as well as recording it with the London Symphony. For his debut with the New York Philharmonic, Mr. Peskanov chose to premiere a new concerto written for him by Stanley Wolf, and in 2004 he premiered a violin concerto written especially for him by Adolphus Hailstork.

As a recitalist and ensemble player, Mr. Peskanov has collaborated with Isaac Stern, Yo-Yo Ma, Mstislav Rostropovich, Jean-Pierre Rampal and Yefim Bronfman. Appearances at music festivals have included those of Aspen, Boulder, Grant Park, The Hollywood Bowl, Tanglewood and Wolf Trap as well as numerous European festivals. His most recent CD releases were nominated for Grammy Awards.

“Triumph at Carnegie Hall—Mr. Peskanov has it all— technique, temperament and taste.” —The New York Times
